The Nutty Club Is No More

Their pink popcorn, their pearled peanuts, their colourful hard candies, and their salted sunflower seeds have lost the battle to international competition. The Nutty Club buildings are shuttered. The machinery has been discarded, as has the brand name. In January of 2024 their owner, the Scott-Bathgate organization, locked the doors and held an online auction.

Their buildings in downtown Winnipeg will be demolished. What can never be erased is the pleasure that striped Can-D-Man mascot brought to children of all ages in Western Canada for more than 100 years.
