The experimentation with my newly-acquired Fujifilm X-T5 camera continues. Long praised for their dedication to classic colour and black-and-white film stocks, the Fuji company is now equally lauded for the range of film simulation options available on their digital cameras.
Does digital production deliver the same desired quality and emotional connection of film-based images? Five decades of owning a Pentax film camera have coloured my thinking. But this image above, generated through the Fuji Monochrome setting, in a high-res JPEG output without any post-processing, convinced me that digital photography has come a long way.
Perhaps not the equal of certain black-and-white images in my own library, which dates back to 1979, there is both depth and range to this street shot that is surprising. More to follow on this matter in forthcoming images…
