My love affair with film photography began in 1979 when I purchased a film camera: the Pentax ME Super, which was a semi-automatic model with aperture priority and the choice of manual or auto-focus. It was a pleasure to use, producing excellent images both in black and white and colour.The camera lasted 20 years, through thousands of photos and regular servicing.
When I purchased a Digital Single-Lens Reflex model as its replacement I was initially excited by what appeared to be superior technology: high resolution, instant access to the image, and low cost. But something had been lost. and I was taking fewer pictures. Gradually I realized that I preferred the analog process. That conviction resulted in the purchase of the used film camera shown above. It was in fine condition and immediately delivered the creative latitude and tactile satisfaction I had missed.
