“Meeting” At Miramar Plaza

This group sculpture of Buddhist monks is a creation of Wang Shugang, a contemporary artist known as a key figure in the movement called “Cynical Realism.” He works in both Beijing and Germany, and has held dozens of exhibitions across the world since the early 1990s. The eight crouching figures are known as “Meeting”, Created for the 2007 G8 Summit in Germany, the collection made its North American debut at the 2009-2011 Vancouver Biennale. They now have a permanent home just outside Vancouver.
