Sunset in La Quinta, California

There may be skies more beautiful than those in California, but I’ve yet to experience them. Prairie sunsets in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, and those in southern Alberta, last seemingly for hours since the land is flat and the sky immense. But California has a beauty of its own when the orange and purple glow is framed by the tall palms.

This image was taken in the PGA West golf residential area, in the middle of March, and spring is approaching. Back home in Canada was minus 25 across much of the country, and travel is not recommended.
