Fuji film at its best, with a bias toward cool blues, but with the compensating warmth of the sunset producing a soft and mellow image, in keeping with the subject: sails down at sunset. I photographed this scene both in colour and in black and white, and further with both landscape and portrait orientations before deciding that an expansive view best captured the sunset. There is a sense of tranquility in this image that arises from the soft gleam of the sun and the deep darkness of the slow-moving waves.
The Fuji colour palette from the 1970s, 1980s was their brand’s strongest asset, and in recent years they have regained their following with their digital simulations that offer a ‘70s look. This is one of the most significant trends in digital photography because it acknowledges the current widespread interest in exploring the beauty of film. particularly among younger people. The goal? – analog feel with digital convenience. Shown here is the real thing.
