The Automobile Scrapyard, A Treasure No More

Some subjects demand to be photographed in black and white. When there is no advantage to colour there is every opportunity to work on composition.

The trademark red and white smokestack from the coal-fired Generating Station could be seen for miles.

When I received the news that my strongest competitor’s store had burned down overnight, I immediately grabbed my camera.

This was one of my earliest lessons in photography – that good pictures were to be found in the most ordinary of circumstances.

The scene commanded more than one visit and never failed to disappoint this aficionado of the discarded.
