This is a typical scene along the coast of Alaska where cities such as Juneau and Ketchikan are thriving. Fishing trawlers, float planes and docked cruise ships dominate the waterways. The main driver is tourism, for Alaska draws over 3 million visitors every year, most of them arriving on a cruise and staying in one location for a day or so.
Gone are the days when Alaska dominated American crude oil production. The good news is that lower production means less impact on the pristine scenery that continues to bring in the tourists.
