One of the most famous fishing villages in the world, Peggy’s Cove maintains its character regardless of the passage of time. Founded in 1811, the village is as rugged as ever. Fierce Atlantic winds and huge waves pound the rugged shoreline, making work in the fishery a hazardous occupation. The resident families have roots here going back several generations. As for the granite rocks, they have been estimated to be 375 million years old.
Peggy’s Cove remains true to itself, authentic in ways that elude so many over-touristed destinations: timeless, ageless, impervious to change. There is very little of that left in the modern world.
