The generally accepted rule is “blue and green should never be seen.” But rules are made to be broken and here is a great example of that.
The strength of this image lies not the subject matter, but in how it is rendered with as few colours as possible. Colour can easily clutter up a photograph and disguise a poorly composed image with a surfeit of appealing tones. Vibrant colours are often dramatic and exciting, while muted shades produce a calm and peaceful feeling. In this image we have a balance, a nearly equal distribution of the strong green and the peaceful blue.
