What Is Large In What Is Small

This was one of my earliest lessons in photography – that good pictures were to be found in the most ordinary of circumstances.

The widespread belief about the shape and size of tree roots is nothing more than an artist’s wishful thinking.

Surrounded by suburbia, along a seldom-travelled rural road, stood the remains of a long-shuttered gas station.

Very often older buildings are shot in black and white. In this instance only colour would suffice.

The image is postcard worthy and even appears to have been conceived for just such a purpose.
