Home Is Where The Heart Is

The very house shown above was my home until I was five years old and we moved to town so that I could go to school. The farmhouse had a wood stove for cooking and heating. My mother hung washing on an outdoor clothesline, even in winter. 

There were chickens, cows, horses, and rabbits. And a record player, because my parents loved country music. When they had house parties, I’d sneak onto the stairs to hear the music of Hank Williams and Hank Snow while they danced the night away. I remember it all…
