One of my favorite stories from Zen Buddhist readings is about an earnest young man who travelled to seek spiritual advice from a Master.
“What shall I do to gain satori?” he asked.
The Master replied,” Forget about enlightenment and attend to your daily work. There you may find satori.”
“But my daily work”, protested the young wisdom-traveller, “is only to chop wood and carry water.”
“Exactly”, said the Master. “Chop wood and carry water.”
