The Pacific Ocean was so named for its peaceful waters, but one look at this mis-named coastline with its steep cliffs and worn rocks jutting up from the water tells a different story. As for the name “Sunshine Coast”, that was dreamed up in a marketing campaign designed to generate tourism. The land surrounding the coast is a temperate rain forest. The waves can reach 3 meters, while the winds can be fierce and the rain unrelenting.
